2024 Dear Mom, Conference Recap
Upcoming Community Events
So Happy To Learn Event
We’re still buzzing with excitement about the upcoming full-day So Happy to Learn Event on September. 27th, 2025 at The Woman’s Club of Laguna Beach! This has been on our dream board since 2018, and we’re thrilled to finally bring it to life in 2025.
Terry Brown—longtime Dear Mom supporter, returning speaker, and the heart behind So Happy to Learn—will be leading the day. If you’re new to her work or want a refresher on what makes her teaching so impactful, here’s a bit more about what to expect, in Terry’s own words:
‘I teach many precious children born with Down syndrome, autism and a variety of other learning differences. I teach them how to read, how to write and how to think in math terms, but most importantly, I teach them how to love the process of learning. I show them that learning is fun and that they can be successful learners.
It is my hope that I can share with you what has worked for me with my precious learners and that you will have the pleasure of experiencing the joys that this wonderful work can bring to both you and your learner.’

“Look around-the women here understand, and so do I. There’s so much power in sharing your truth. We weren’t meant to walk this journey alone!””
“If there’s one reason you came to this conference today, it’s to build community & make connections.”
“We are the Lucky Few ”
“People are out there dreaming & believing in our kids with us.”
““Other people’s opinions do not define you or your family. You were created for a miraculous purpose, just like your child. So be brave. ”
Dear Mom, the day my little miracle baby was born the neonatologist in his most pathetic sad voice broke the news to us that they suspected our little girl had Down Syndrome. I asked him, “does she have 10 fingers and toes? Is she breathing?” When his response was yes, I told him “well then give her to me so I can see her”.
